Ghanaian champions Medeama SC and Yanga SC shared the spoils in their CAF Champions League group stage clash on Friday in an exhilarating encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium.

In their second home game of the competition, Medeama aimed to build on their previous victory against CR Beloiuzdad, while Young Africans sought their first win after a loss and a draw in their opening matches.

Medeama took an early lead as Jonathan Sowah converted from the penalty spot in the 27th minute, giving the home team a promising advantage.

However, the Tanzanian giants responded swiftly, with Ivorian midfielder Peodoh Pacome Zouzoua netting the equaliser in the 36th minute.

With this result, Medeama now stand at one win, one draw, and one loss after three games in Group D. In the parallel fixture, Al Ahly and CR Belouizdad played a goalless draw, leaving the group wide open.

As it stands, Medeama occupy the second spot in the group with four points, just behind the record holders Al Ahly, who lead with five points. CR Belouizdad share the same point tally as Medeama, while Young Africans sit at the bottom with two points, still in search of their first victory.

Looking ahead, Medeama are set to face Young Africans in their next fixture, scheduled for December 20, 2023, in Tanzania. The group dynamics promise an exciting continuation of the CAF Champions League journey for all participating teams.
