Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Ghana’s fastest man over 100m, is dithering on whether to turn full-time pro or continue his academic studies.
Currently, with South Florida bulls Rasheed smashed Ghana’s 100m record while running at the NCAA D1 East Prelims last weekend.
His 9.86s is the fastest time in the world this year, with only American 100m sprinter Kenny Bednarek matching the feat.
Rasheed, a graduate in Communications, is still undecided whether to pursue athletics full-time time or further his education.
“I don’t know yet. I just graduated in communication. I was trying to do my masters in entrepreneurship, but anyway, I’m ready. If the pro comes, fine. If it doesn’t, I stick with my education plan and do my masters in the University of South Florida,” he told 3Sports’ Bill Eshun.
The 27-year-old hinted that a final decision will be made at the end of the season.
“Who knows tomorrow? Whatever will happen will happen at the end of the season so we just hoping for the best. This time, i’m just focused on NCAA next week. That’s all I’m focusing on. If the pro comes, we are ready to take it.”
