Planned power outage in Accra and Tema on July 3 – ECG announces maintenance schedule

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced that several areas in the Greater Accra and Tema Regions will experience a temporary interruption in power supply on Thursday, July 3, 2025, due to planned maintenance works.

The outage forms part of ECG’s ongoing strategy to enhance service delivery and improve the reliability of the power distribution network.

In three separate public notices, the company outlined that the maintenance exercise will take place between 9:00am and 5:00pm, affecting dozens of communities, according to a report by Graphic.

Areas to be affected

In the Greater Accra Region, the outage will occur between 9:00am and 5:00pm and will affect the following areas:

  • Glefe, Wiaboman, Odorkor, Awoshie, Mandela, SCC, Sunny Coast, Korkordjor, Gbawe

  • Alogboshie, Achimota Neoplan, Benjilo, Asofa, Amen Amen, Omandjor

  • Tesano, Alajo, Adenta Estate, Adenta Container, Ashaley Botwe Town

  • Ashongman Pure Water, Ashongman Estates, Osu, and surrounding areas

In the Tema Region, the planned maintenance will last from 9:00am to 4:00pm, affecting:

  • Kpong, Nuaso, Kpongunor, Agormanya, Odumase, Kojonya, Atua

  • Sawer, Okornya, Somanya, Jericho, Roman Down, Under Bridge Market

  • State School for the Deaf, Kanawu, Adjei Kojo, Community 25, Bulasu

  • Ghana Flag, Afienya Zongo, and nearby communities

ECG will undertake planned maintenance works to improve service delivery,” the company stated. “We regret the inconvenience that will arise out of this exercise.”

Residents and business owners in the affected areas are advised to plan ahead, ensuring that essential activities and equipment are managed appropriately to minimise disruptions during the outage period.

ECG has also assured the public that power supply will be restored immediately after the maintenance works are completed and has urged customers to remain calm and cooperative during the scheduled downtime.
