Haruna Iddrisu is resolute in maintaining a clear distinction between his political career and his newfound football passion, emphasising his commitment to nurturing young talents in the sport.

Iddrisu, who serves as a Member of Parliament for the Tamale South constituency, has a profound love for football and has extended his involvement to ownership of two clubs – Karela United, who compete in the Ghana Premier League, and Steadfast FC, a Division One League team.

During an interview on GPL Xpress, Iddrisu stated, “There are two separate and distinct activities. One is vocation and one is service to God and country. I don’t want to mix my politics with football. We just have young talent, and I want to give them an opportunity to nurture those talents, and that has been my motivation all along even in politics.”

“I identify and nurture talents, give each person the opportunity to realize his potential. I’m still a Member of Parliament for Tamale South, and I will continue to play that role. I have one of the safest seats in the country, and therefore I can sleep always. Football is a new passion and passion of the football.”

Iddrisu took over ownership of Karela United in December 2022, adding to his portfolio alongside Steadfast FC, the same club that produced Fatawu Issahaku, who currently plays on loan at former Premier League champions Leicester City from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon.
