Williams brothers revisit Ghanaian culture by eating fufu ahead of Copa del Rey final

Inaki Williams an brother eat fufu ahead of Copa del Rey final

Athletic Bilbao forwards Inaki Williams and his brother Nico, were spotted indulging in a traditional Ghanaian dish, fufu and soup, as they prepare for the Copa del Rey final on Saturday.

In a video shared on Instagram by Inaki Williams, the two players were seen enjoying a meal of fufu and soup.

Despite representing different countries—Inaki for the Black Stars of Ghana and Nico for Spain—the duo proudly embraced their African roots through their parents.

Born to Ghanaian parents, the Williams brothers have remained connected to their heritage, undertaking philanthropic projects in Ghana, including the construction of a school in Accra and a hotel.

The viral video garnered attention on social media, with Ghanaians expressing delight at seeing the football stars relishing a taste of home.

Both players are expected to feature for Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final against Mallorca. Inaki Williams has highlighted the significance of the match, describing it as a dream opportunity to clinch Athletic Bilbao’s first Copa del Rey trophy since 1984.

In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Williams expressed his desire to bring victory not only to his parents but also to the generations of Athleticzales who have long awaited a championship title.

The final, scheduled to kick off at 20:00 GMT at the Estadio de La Cartuja, holds sentimental value for the Williams brothers, who have grown up playing together and now have the chance to compete in their first cup final as teammates.

Inaki articulated his aspirations, stating, “It’s a dream we’ve had since childhood. We’ve grown up playing together, we’re still playing together, and now we have the chance to play the first cup final together. We don’t want to imagine, we want to do it.”

The duo have both been instrumental for the club in the ongoing campaign with Inaki Williams scoring 11 goals with fie assists across all competitions. His younger brother has also scored three goals and provided eighth assists.
