Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has decided to come out of international retirement and join the German national team for Euro 2024.

The 34-year-old player had previously announced his retirement from international football in July 2021, but has since changed his mind following discussions with Germany’s head coach, Julian Nagelsmann.

In an Instagram post, Kroos explained his decision to return to the national team, stating, “I’ll be playing for Germany again from March. Why? Because I was asked by the coach and I’m up for it.”

He also expressed his belief that the team has the potential to achieve great things at the upcoming European Championship, saying, “I’m sure that much more is possible with the team at the European Championship than most people think right now.”

Throughout his career, Kroos has achieved numerous accolades, including winning the Bundesliga and La Liga three times each, as well as five Champions League titles.

He was also a member of the German teams that won the World Cup in 2014 and finished third at the 2010 tournament, as well as reaching the semi-finals of Euro 2012.

Kroos will be eligible for selection in Nagelsmann’s squad for the upcoming international friendlies against France and the Netherlands, and is expected to play a key role in Germany’s campaign at Euro 2024.

The team will kick off their tournament against Scotland at the Allianz Arena in Munich on June 14th.
