Chelsea attacking midfielder Cole Palmer has stated that the indecisiveness of the players to decide on a penalty taker during their game against Everton has been settled.

Cole Palmer admitted he wanted to take up the responsibility of leading Chelsea from the spot to grab his fourth goal in the Blues’ 6-0 win over Everton, despite facing a short rift with Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke for the penalty.

Palmer was a menace for the Everton defense on the day and joined Erling Haaland on the top scorer rankings with 20 goals after his haul at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

Speaking in a post-match interview about the penalty incident between himself and his teammates, Palmer played down all concerns of a disagreement at the club over spot kicks, indicating that manager Mauricio Pochettino had already clarified the situation, with the Blues forwards more united than ever.

“I’m the penalty taker. I wanted to take it so I took it. Everyone wants to take responsibility. We ended up laughing and joking about it but the manager has spoken to us about it now”, he said.

Palmer is now the first Chelsea player to score four goals in a single Premier League game since Frank Lampard in 2010, and the young Englishman will be looking to edge Erling Haaland for the Golden Boot award come the end of the season.
