‘I feel threatened’ – Cina Soul urges police to arrest Big Akwes

Ghanaian singer-songwriter Cina Soul has said she feels threatened by some remarks made by Kumawood actor Big Akwes.

The singer whose real name is Christie Quincyna Quarcoopome expressed fears over some comments by the actor and called on the Ghana Police Service and the Communication Minister to take action against the actor.

In a video shared on her X handle on July 1, Big Akwes was seen during an interview on Bryt TV playing a Kiss-Marry-Kill game.

When he was asked to choose who he would marry and kill between colleague actress Vivian Jill and Cina Soul, he stated that he would marry Vivian Jill.

But in a worrying turn, Akwes went on to describe how would “kill Cina Soul,” explaining that he would use a magic mirror to spiritually call her, repeatedly stab her with a knife, and then drink her blood.

Concerned and “deeply unsettled” about the comment, Cina Soul took to social media, tagging the Ghana Police Service and the Ministry of Communications and urged swift action, stating that she now feels genuinely threatened.

“I’m deeply unsettled by this. I initially chose not to respond to earlier comments because I do not wish to be associated with this individual, but at this point, I feel genuinely threatened.

“I may not know the proper channels to report this, but it’s critical we take a firm stance against this kind of dangerous rhetoric being broadcast on our TV and radio platforms. We must not normalize hate,” she posted.

Following her post on X, both Big Akwes and Bryt TV have been widely condemned for airing the clip while Ghanaians show support to the artiste.

Big Akwes’ harsh criticism against Cina Soul

In April 2025, Cina Soul responded to some disparaging remarks directed at her from Big Akwes.

During a conversation on Accra-based Max TV on Monday, April 1, 2025 Big Akwes criticised the singer’s choice of clothing in a dance clip while body shaming her.

The songstress was spotted in a crop top and baggy trousers and could be seen displaying some dance moves in a bid to promote her “Did I Lie” album.

However, Big Akwes during the show stated that Cina Soul’s dressing did not tally with her brand. He then went on to body-shame her, using some derogatory words on the musician.

In response to the comments in post on her X handle, Cina Soul lamented how she had invested time and finances into promoting the album only to be criticised over her choice of outfit.

“You see o. This is why I choose who/where I interview. I spent so much of my own money to make and promote this album, and not a single word from any of them, but let Cina Soul wear some crop top and cargo pants for some dance content, and it sends them into a frenzy because “fiRST nO nA )nDreZi sei” (she didn’t dress like this at first). I just want to make music, bro,” she said.

Max TV later apologised for the comment by the actor and deleted the video post on its social media platforms.
