Gideon Mensah has urged Ghanaians to get behind the Black Stars in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana take on Chad and Madagascar on March 21 and 24, respectively, for a place at the 2026 World Cup, which is to be co-hosted by USA, Mexico and Canada.
Despite failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Black Stars have had better fortunes in the World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana won two games in 2024, with both victories coming in World Cup qualifying games against Mali and Central African Republic.
The wins in June have placed the Black Stars in second place in Group I, level on points with group leaders Comoros ahead of March’s international break.
Mensah, who was part of Ghana’s team that participated at the last World Cup in Qatar in 2022, has been among the team’s consistent players.
In a bid to promote togetherness to achieve a common goal of making it to a fifth World Cup, the Auxerre defender urged Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Stars.
“Thank you for your support over the years to the Black Stars, he said.
“We’ve both had great results in our previous games but we will like to urged everyone of you to continue to support us and be a pillar behind us in our upcoming qualifying games and together we cab achieve greatness,” he added.
The first game is expected to take place in Accra, with the tie against Madagascar set for Morocco.
