Army Ladies secured their first-ever Women’s FA Cup title with a thrilling 1-0 victory over Police Ladies on Saturday at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon.
The decisive moment came in the 50th minute when Deborah Opoku found the back of the net, handing Army Ladies a historic win.
The match started with Police Ladies showing early dominance, putting Army Ladies under pressure in front of a lively crowd. Despite their early control and several chances, both teams were unable to convert opportunities into goals, resulting in a goalless first half.
The breakthrough came shortly after the interval. Five minutes into the second half, Deborah Opoku slotted home from close range, capitalising on an error by the Police Ladies goalkeeper to give Army Ladies the lead.
This goal proved to be the match-winner, as Police Ladies, despite numerous attempts, failed to equalize due to a lack of precision in their finishing.
