Rosalind Amoh, a member of the Local Organisation Committee for the 2023 African Games has stated that the organisers are hopeful of getting the facilities ready for the competition.

With the showcase expected to start in August 2023, the needed facilities for all athletes are yet to be ready for use.

Speaking on NewDay ahead of the upcoming Zongo games this weekend, Amoh has assured the public that work is in progress.

“I think work [on 2023 African games] is progressing steadily. Definitely, we’re behind schedule because ideally we should have finished with our facilities by now and trying them out because [around] August to September is the competition date,” she said.

“Unfortunately because of COVID, a lot of things were delayed but work is progressing steadily and we are hopeful that within the time [left], we will be able to do it. There have been a lot of technical meetings and discussions going on,” she added.

The 2023 African games is expected to be held in Kumasi, Accra and Cape Coast.

It will be the 13th edition of the multi-sport event which began in 1965.
