Tokyo 2020: Ghana’s Shakul Samed suffers TKO defeat

The Olympic dream of boxer Shakul Samed is over after he was beaten in the men’s light heavyweight at the round of 16 stage on Wednesday morning.
Samed suffered a technical knockout (TKO) defeat against Turkey’s Bayram Malkan.
The 22-year-old was stopped in the second round after a right hook sent him down. He had lost the first round 4-1, per the five judges’ score.
He becomes the first Ghanaian boxer to be eliminated from the games.
Earlier on Wednesday, Samuel Takyi progressed to the quarterfinals in the featherweight division. Takyi will fight Colombia’s Ceiber Ávila on Sunday.
Black Bombers captain Sulemanu Tetteh is preparing for his round of 16 fight against Yosvany Veitía of Cuba on Saturday.
