Aduana Stars have left the title race wide open after failing to beat Karela United at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park on Monday afternoon in a matchday 30 fixture in the Ghana Premier League.

Paa Kwesi Fabin’s men were aiming to bounce back after a disappointing draw against bottom-placed Kotoku Royals a week ago. However, Karela United were more confident having thumped Berekum Chelsea in their previous game, and continued with determination to earn a crucial point as they continue to fight the relegation battle.

The stalemate has given other contenders massive hope to pull a surprise in the few matches left as Medeama SC secured a vital win over Bechem United to leapfrog the Hunters and reduce the points deficit between themselves and Aduana Stars to just two points.

Jonathan Sowah and Vincent Atingah struck a goal each in the first half to ensure they took a step closer.

As it stands Aduana Stars remain top of the standings with 52 points while Medeama SC follows with 50 points. Bechem United are also in contention as they sit third with 48 points while Berekum Chelsea follows closely with 46 points.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko cannot be ruled out mathematically as they stay fifth and sixth with 45 and 44 points respectively.

With four matches to end the season, Aduana Stars would have to finish the hard way if they are determined to win the trophy. They will play Accra Lions in their next fixture while Medeama face a more difficult task of engaging Hearts of Oak in their next match.
