The star-studded event will unfold at the newly completed University of Ghana Stadium, promising an enthralling showcase that extends beyond music, featuring renowned artistes such as Ebo Taylor, Pat Thomas, and South Africa’s Kamo Mphela.

The opening ceremony, commencing at 3 pm, is expected to set the tone for the subsequent sporting events, which include, athletics, swimming, and more. Already underway, some disciplines, such as tennis, have seen Egypt clinching gold in thrilling competitions.

Venues, including the newly constructed Borteyman Sports Complex, the completed University of Ghana Stadium, and renovated campus accommodations serving as the Games’ Village, are earmarked for the various competitions.
Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, disclosed earlier this week that the operational cost for the games is $47.7 million. This encompasses general organisation, technical meetings, allowances, the game’s management system, athlete accommodations and feeding, security, medals, and transportation. Ussif envisions reaching over two billion audiences with the substantial investment made.

“Ghana is expecting 13,000 athletes and officials for the African Games,” Ussif added, underlining the nation’s commitment to hosting a successful and widely viewed sporting spectacle.
As the anticipation builds for the 2023 African Games, the opening ceremony promises to be a vibrant celebration of culture, music, and athleticism, marking the commencement of two weeks of exciting competitions and camaraderie.
The Sports Ministry, also disclosed ticket prices ranging from GHc50 to GHc500. The games encompass various sports, with tickets available for purchase through the official website.
