Real Tamale United (RTU) players have boycotted training ahead of their upcoming Ghana Premier League match against Heart of Lions, citing unpaid salaries and bonuses.

According to coach Abdul Mumin Abdulai, the players have not received their salaries in nearly five months, and the coach himself has not been paid in nearly a year.

“The players boycotted Wednesday’s training because they haven’t received their salaries in nearly five months, plus some unpaid bonuses,” Abdulai told Akoma FM. “Our situation is dire, and we require immediate help.”

Abdulai explained that the players have been using their own resources to survive, but their morale has taken a hit due to the lack of financial motivation.

“Some of us can’t say anything, but the players have a weapon and are refusing to train, which speaks volumes to me,” he said. “We’re trying to figure out how to put our heads together with a little psychology.”

Despite the challenges, Abdulai remains hopeful that RTU can still avoid relegation if things turn around quickly. “It’s a tough one, but we can still avoid relegation if things turn around today,” he said.

The club’s financial struggles have been ongoing for some time, and it appears that the situation is taking a toll on the players and coaches.

RTU is currently bottom of the league table, and their financial woes are likely to make it difficult for them to compete effectively.

The players’ boycott of training is a clear indication of their frustration and dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs at the club.

It remains to be seen whether the club’s management will take steps to address the issue and ensure that the players receive the pay they are owed.
