Late goal sees Kotoko through in FA Cup

Asante Kotoko have booked their place in this season’s MTN FA Cup round of 16 after a hard-fought win over Benab on Saturday evening.

The third-tier side proved stubborn for Kotoko who needed a late goal from Maxwell Agyeman to secure a 2-1 win at Baba Yara Stadium.

17 minutes into the game Kotoko took the lead after a Benab player headed a Kotoko free kick into his own net.

Benab responded positively and drew level after 70 minutes. They defended well hoping for a penalty shootout but Agyeman struck in the 90th minute.

Kotoko stay in the hunt for the double this season.

Earlier in the day, Legon Cities beat Great Olympics and Aduana Stars overcame Tano Bofoakwa.
