Asante Kotoko have advanced to the Round 32 stage of the 2023/24 MTN FA Cup following a convincing 4-2 victory over local rivals Nations FC at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Tuesday.

The Porcupine Warriors started strongly, taking the lead less than 10 minutes into the first half through a fine effort from striker Steven Mukwala. Isaac Oppong doubled the lead in the 12th minute, before Richmond Lamptey added a third five minutes later to give Asante Kotoko a commanding 3-0 lead.

Nations FC pulled one back before halftime, but the damage had already been done. Steven Mukwala’s second goal of the game in the second half sealed the win for Asante Kotoko, who coasted to a comfortable victory.

The win sees Asante Kotoko progress to the next stage of the domestic cup competition, where they will face even more challenging opponents. However, based on their impressive performance today, they will certainly be confident of their chances.
