Erling Haaland etched his name into the history books as he became the fastest player to score 40 Champions League goals, achieving the feat in just 35 matches, 10 games fewer than former record holder Ruud van Nistelrooy.

His goal sparked a stunning comeback for Manchester City, who battled back from two goals down to claim a thrilling victory against RB Leipzig at Etihad Stadium.

City’s 28-match unbeaten home European record was under threat for 40 minutes, but the introduction of Julian Alvarez and Jeremy Doku in the second half turned the tide.

Alvarez set up Haaland for City’s first goal, and Doku’s presence caused chaos in the Leipzig defence, allowing Phil Foden to equalize with a clinical finish.

Three minutes from full-time, Alvarez capped off the comeback, calmly slotting past the keeper from eight yards out after Foden had provided the cross.

The dramatic turnaround not only preserved City’s unbeaten home record but also secured their place atop Group G with a game to spare. Pep Guardiola’s side continue to assert their dominance in Europe, with Haaland leading the charge.
