The Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) has had to make two changes to the men’s 4x100m relay team in preparation for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham after the athletes failed to secure visas.

Both Joseph Manu and Emmanuel Yeboah, who were members of the team that recently set a national record in Oregon, were unable to travel to the United Kingdom.

Barnabas Agerh of the University for Development Studies and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu of the University of Ghana have taken their places. The duo were part of Ghana’s 4x100m relay team, which won silver last month at the Invitational Relay competition in Nigeria.

They are expected to support the experienced trio of Sean Safo-Antwi, Benjamin Azamati, and Joseph Paul Amoah, who will lead Ghana’s bid for a gold medal in the event.

The team are confident of a medal at the Commonwealth Games after setting a national record (38.07) in the men’s final at World Athletics Championship last week.
