Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has clarified the reason behind Jordan Ayew’s substitution during the team’s Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspurs.
The game which ended in a 3-1 defeat at the Tottenham Stadium saw Ayew replaced after the 70th minute, sparking speculation about a potential injury concern.
Glasner addressed the issue in the post-game interview, revealing that Ayew had sustained a hit on his hip during the first half of the match. The decision to substitute him was a precautionary measure, with Ayew indicating at halftime that he had approximately 10 to 15 minutes left in him.
“He got a hit in the first half on his hip. He already told us at half-time he had maybe 10 or 15 minutes, but I hope and I think it’s not so bad,” he clarified.
Glasner expressed hope that the injury is not severe, providing some reassurance to concerned fans about Ayew’s condition.
The Black Stars forward, who recently scored in consecutive games for Palace, including a notable goal against Everton, was nominated for the EPL Goal of the Month Award for February.
