West Ham United manager David Moyes has acknowledged the contribution of Mohammed Kudus in their recent 1-1 draw against Bournemouth.

The Hammers, extending their winless streak to five games, saw Kudus play a pivotal role in earning a penalty that resulted in their lone goal scored by James Ward-Prowse.

Kudus, returning from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) where Ghana exited in the group stage, faced a challenge readjusting to the team’s dynamics, according to Moyes.

The manager acknowledged that it took time for Kudus to find his rhythm after being away from the squad.

“We didn’t find any rhythm to it at all,” Moyes commented. “Even Mo [Kudus] coming back from the Africa Cup of Nations, it took a bit of time for him to find his level. He got us a penalty kick later on.”

Despite the draw, Kudus has been a valuable asset for West Ham since joining from Ajax, contributing six goals and an assist in the Premier League from 11 starts this season.

The Ghana international showcased his talent at the AFCON, notably scoring a brace against Egypt, but Ghana’s lackluster performances ultimately led to their early elimination. Kudus also played a crucial role in winning a penalty against Mozambique, emphasising his influence on the pitch.

While West Ham aims to bounce back from their recent struggles, Kudus’ return and continued impact will be crucial for Moyes and his team as they navigate the challenges of the Premier League.

With 36 points, the Hammers are sixth on the table after 22 games and are aiming to claim a slot in European football next season.
