Mohammed Kudus was in fine form in West Ham United’s 4-2 win over Brentford on Monday night in the Premier League.

The Ghanaian midfielder provided an assist for the Hammers’ third goal over the Bees at the London Stadium and is now involved in eight goals (six goals, two assists) after 21 games in the Premier League.

But in all competitions, Kudus has scored 10 goals and two assists.

Kudus’ form has proved to be crucial for West Ham all season. The Hammers were winless in eight successive matches before the victory over Brentford, yet now have themselves level on points with Brighton and Hove Albion who lie in seventh place on the standings.

It seemed as though West Ham lacked rhythm after Kudus’ return to London from the Africa Cup of Nations in January, as he sits with a 0.38 goal-per-game ratio so far in the league.

However, the return of Lucas Paqueta has aided in the provision of balance in attack, and the Ghanaian showed why if played a favourable role, he can be one of the very best in the modern game.

West Ham manager David Moyes was also pleased with Kudus’ performance and overall output to the team and believes his partnership with Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen is heavily crucial to the success of the team.

“It is definitely a good thing to see. When you look at the difference Paqueta makes to the team and what Kudus can do in moments as well, and Jarrod probably got back to his best today with the three goals. That front three makes a huge difference,” he said.

Kudus is now two goal involvements away from hitting double figures for goal contributions in his debut season in the Premier League, and his evolution can only get better by the day.

The 2022/2023 season was Kudus’ best campaign for goals and assists (14) in the Eredivisie.

Nonetheless, that feat was achieved in 30 matches, and the 23-year-old will most likely surpass that mark with even more numbers this season.
