Ghana international Denis Odoi showcased his scoring prowess by netting his first league goal of the season as Club Brugge delivered a commanding 3-0 victory against KRC Genk in the Belgium Jupiler Pro League on Sunday.

The match at the Cegeka Arena in round 38 saw the visitors take an early lead with Norwegian midfielder Hugo Vetlesen finding the net in the 26th minute, shortly after Genk’s Tolu Arokodare missed an opportunity to convert from the spot.

Odoi, the versatile defender, extended Brugge’s lead in the 73rd minute, skillfully converting a pass from Belgian midfielder Maxim De Cuyper. The triumph was sealed by Norway international forward Andreas Skov Olsen, who confidently converted a penalty kick with just five minutes left in the match.

Following this convincing victory, Brugge climbed to the third spot in the league standings, while Genk maintained their position in sixth place.

Denis Odoi’s compatriot, 19-year-old Christopher Bonsu Baah, also featured in the match, lasting 70 minutes for the opposing side.

The 35-year-old Odoi, part of Ghana’s squad that experienced disappointment at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, sees this significant moment as an opportunity to regain confidence.

Club Brugge aim to finish the season on a high note, currently standing in third place with 48 points, trailing leaders Royale Union Saint-Gilloise by 20 points.
