Social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram were abuzz with reactions from fans and music lovers as Black Sherif was finally announced as the winner of the most coveted award at the 24th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), which was held on Saturday, May 6 at the Accra International Conference Center.

The Artiste of the Year (AOTY), which recognises the top-performing artistes in the Ghanaian music industry, was one of the most difficult to determine following the confidence fans had for their respective idols during the build-up to the biggest night in the industry.

Black Sherif had to contend with Piesie Esther, who picked two awards despite missing out on the ultimate.

The talented and versatile star also beat off competition from the 2022 Artiste of the Year Kidi, Sarkodie, King Promise, Camidoh, and Joe Mettle.
