Ghanaian comedian, Abdul Waris Umaru known best as Comedian Waris has said his highest revenue earned from content generation on Facebook was $9000 monthly.

The comedian also disclosed that he made between $5000 to $6000 from TikTok in December last year in a week.

Although he admitted that content generation on social media comes with more money, he noted that Ghana as a country is battling with monetization issues for social media spaces.

This, he said caused some content creators to liaise with Nigerian counterparts.

Comedian Waris was speaking in an interview with Anita Akufo and Godwin Namboh on TV3’s The Afternoon Show.

“My highest I have taken from Facebook can be in the $9000 monthly. Facebook pays more than that that is why Sabinus is who he is and Nigerians buy houses like that…. There are other social media pages that makes more money. In December I was on TikTok and within a week I clocked close to $5000 to $6000.

“All these things there are ways of doing them but just that Ghana is not a country which is added to the monetization list because common PayPal we do not even have a head off to withdraw money so we are all dealing with other countries like Nigeria,” he said on Monday.

Meanwhile, he indicated that he was left in disbelief by his first income he made from Facebook due to content generation.

Comedian Waris noted that he had to withdraw the money and keep it until he was utterly convinced the money belongs to him.

“I never knew I could make [huge money from Facebook]. The first time I made a huge amount from Facebook it was like a dream. I was like is this my money? I had to withdraw and hold it before I was sure that it was my money,” he said.

Aside being a comedian, he is also a brand influencer for several brands but he believes that the technicalities that come along with the position make it complicated at times.

“Sometimes being an influencer is quite difficult. Coming to the understanding and all that and the things they need because companies do not understand they feel like you can flood your page with content just to publicise them for people. I will never post three content from a brand on my page in a day,” the content creator said.

Comedian Waris was on The Afternoon Show on TV3 on Monday for a conversation on the financial benefits of social media.
