Reports of Otto Addo’s potential return as Ghana’s head coach have elicited mixed reactions from fans and pundits alike.

The news comes after Chris Hughton was dismissed from the role following Ghana’s unsuccessful AFCON 2023 campaign in Ivory Coast.

According to sources, the search committee, led by Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President Mark Addo, is considering Otto Addo as a leading contender for the top job.

The Dortmund talent coach previously held the position on an interim basis in March 2022 and was later confirmed as the permanent coach.

However, he stepped down after Ghana failed to advance beyond the group stage in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

While some fans believe that Otto Addo’s return would be a positive development, others are sceptical about the move.

The GFA had previously stated that they were looking for a proven winner with at least 15 years of coaching experience.

Otto Addo began his coaching career in 2010 and has yet to win a major trophy as a head coach, although he was part of Dortmund’s German Cup victory in 2021 as an assistant coach.

The news has sparked debate among fans, with some questioning the GFA’s criteria for selecting a new coach. Others have expressed concern that Otto Addo’s lack of experience and track record may not bode well for the team’s future success.

As the dust settles on the news, it remains to be seen whether Otto Addo will indeed return to the Ghana hot seat.

The GFA has yet to make an official announcement regarding the matter, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the outcome.

One thing is certain, however – the pressure will be on Otto Addo to deliver results if he is given another chance to lead the Black Stars.
