Musician Sister Derby has lamented the passage of the Promotion of Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill.
The bill was passed in Parliament on Wednesday, February 28 after a third reading and several amendments.
In a post on X shortly after the news of the passage of the bill, the musician sarcastically quizzed if the passage of the bill will address the numerous problems of the country.
“The passage of the bill will fix the roads, build hospitals and schools, ensure that there’s potable water in every community, clean all the polluted rivers, stop Galamsey, provide jobs for the youth, solve the plastic pollution menace, take the kids off the streets and also solve light off issue lmao,” Deborah Vanessa tweeted.
Sister Derby has been a staunch opposer of the bill since its introduction in 2021 stressing it is a violation of rights of members of the LGBTQI community.

In February last year, the musician admitted being an ally of the LGBTQ+ community and dismissed rumours about her being a lesbian.
The bill which was passed in to law on Wednesday proscribes LGBT activities and criminalizes its promotion, advocacy and funding.
Persons caught in the act would be subjected to a 6 months to 3 year jail term with promoters and sponsors of the act bearing a 3 to 5 year jail term.
