Ghanaian content creator SDK, known for his viral comedic skits, has shared how he copes in the face of unimaginable heartbreak after the painful loss of both his parents within a short span of time.
The ‘Camera man’ crooner who lost his dad to a debilitating stroke in November 2021 also lost his mum in January 2023 to a similar fate.
“Lost my dad today, rest in peace my oldgee,” the Comedian announced in a Twitter post
Losing both of his parents is an experience that has profoundly impacted the life of SDK who is known in real life as Sadik Sulley.
But the comedic actor in an interview on Property FM in Cape Coast acknowledged that in coping with the grief of losing his father and mother in painful circumstances, he had to also prioritise his own happiness and mental health to prevent the overwhelming burden of sorrow from consuming him.
“I try my best to be happy because thinking of the death of my parents too much might end up eating me up, so I try my best to feel okay and just move on,” he said in a morbid tone
SDK, in addition to dealing with personal loss, took the opportunity to announce the final funeral rites of his late mother during the interview.
Displaying remarkable strength and resilience, he extended an invitation to his fans and loved ones, emphasizing the significance of their support during this difficult time.

“I want the fans to also know that since my mother died, the funeral is now going to happen on the 20th of May at Tema Community 2. So all my fans should come and support me to find a final resting place for my mother,” he solemnly announced during the show.
Recall that in a candid interview with Deloris Frimpong-Manso, popularly known as “Delay,” SDK recounted how he lost his dad and his fear of having to take care of two seriously ill parents.
“He had fallen down a number of times and at a point, I lifted his hands and it was very numb. After I carried him in one instance, I whispered in his ears that my mother has a stroke and he now also has a stroke so it’s better for him to give up. He couldn’t speak, I was calling him and he wasn’t responding,” he disclosed in an interview with Delay.
SDK was also full of praise for the likes of Quamina MP, Sarkodie, Kwesi Arthur, Sister Afia and Comedian Warris who supported him with their presence during his father’s funeral.
