Amaarae’s talent is insane and people are finally noticing – Kuami Eugene

Ghanaian music star Kuami Eugene has described singer and global music sensation Amaarae as a long-standing talent who is only now getting the mainstream recognition she has always deserved.

In a conversation with Doreen Avio about rising Ghanaian stars making waves globally, Kuami Eugene did not hold back his admiration for Amaarae, whom he called his “big sister.”

“Amaarae is my big sister. She’s a legend, though. But the funny thing is it has never been quiet with Amare. It’s just her circle… That’s where she finds herself.”

He explained that Amaarae’s music has always resonated within niche circles, especially among alternative and global listeners, which made her less visible to the mainstream Ghanaian audience for years.

“People she used to appeal to is not the regular Ghanaian masses. She’s been making waves since. It’s just quite sad that people are now getting to know Amare. But I’m excited they’re getting to know Amare now because the talent she has is insane.”

The ‘Monica’ hitmaker disclosed that his choice to put on a new hair cut distinctive from what his usual style marks a new beginning in his musical career following his exit from Lynx Entertainment.

He clarified that the his new style goes beyond just a new look. Kuami Eugene claimed that this ushers him into a new stage of his development on both a personal and professional level.

“I woke up one morning and it’s been a long time, when I got signed to Lynx. It’s been changing hairstyle from one hairstyle to another hairstyle, but I’ve not had a down cut for a very long time, for about six years. I’ll twist it, then I will do this and I will unbraid it, leaving the afro. I changed it just to show a new look and the fact that it’s a new beginning for me from Lynx. It’s a transition from the Lynx boy to your family, sweet boy Kwami Eugene,” he said.
