Ace Nigerian film producer, Kayode Peters dies in Toronto

A Nigerian actor, film producer, and director, Kayode Adewumi, has passed away in Toronto, Canada, after a prolonged illness.
A post on Instagram by his family announced that Kayode died on Saturday morning in Toronto, Canada.
The family disclosed that Kayode battled a long time illness before his death.
The family asked for kindness and privacy while they take time to make arrangements for his funeral, promising to share further details in due course.
The statement read, “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved, Kayode Peters Adewumi, who passed on peacefully this morning June 28, 2025, in Toronto, Canada.
“KP braved, challenged and conquered a long time illness until his last breath this morning.
Peters earned his place as a key figure in the Nigeria contemporary theatre and television industry for his great work in ‘Extended Family’ as well as other numerous stage plays and sitcoms.
He gained much attention as the creative mind behind ‘Flatmates’, a hit comedy series in the early 2000s.
He began his artistic journey with Theatre 15 at the University of Lagos. He later moved into television, producing popular series like Twilight Zone and Flatmates.
His transition into film included directing 13 Letters (2019) and Crazy Grannies (2021), among others.
His death has caused shocking waves in the Nigerian movie industry with many actors and actresses expressing their grief over the sad news.
