Ghanaian Lady, Felicity Asantewaa is poised to make an attempt at the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest car washing by an individual on March 9, 2024.

Her ambition is to break the record for the most cars washed by an individual within an impressive 8 hours through what she said she enjoys doing – washing cars.

This GWR attempt will take place near the Executive Club in East Legon.

Announcing her decision on her Instagram page, Felicity said her decision stems from her passionate commitment to empowering young women in Ghana, fostering gender equality and showcasing the limitless opportunities available to them.

“It’s not about taking over or competing with men, but rather showcasing that women are capable of the same opportunities for a living. For instance, we now have women driving commercial vehicles such as buses and trucks, engaging in various activities, demonstrating their independence,” she said.

She continued “I have observed that the car washing job has been dominated by males in Ghana. However, I believe females can equally do this work perfectly.”

According to Felicity, her admiration and love for cars compelled her to empower young women through her passion and what she loves best.

“I love cars and I also know a lot of car brands. So, when I thought of empowering young women and promoting Ghana, I chose what I love to do to have an impact in the young women’s world.”

The event is expected to commence as early as 7 am at the East Legon Go Go wash premises near the East Legon fitness club.

Felicity will now join the list of Ghanaians who have attempted the Guinness World Records for various endeavours.

This enthusiasm and urge to break Guinness World Records begun after Afua Asantewaa embarked on a five-day sing-a-thon attempt of which she is yet to receive an official confirmation from GWR.

Following her attempt was Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak who also embarked on a 227 hours cook-a-thon at the Tamale stadium which gained the attention of many Ghanaian personalities. She is also yet to be officially confirmed as the record holder.
