The swearing-in was the first exercise conducted before proceedings on Tuesday.
Mr Baba, a former Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service, on Tuesday, July 7 beat contests from seven others to emerge winner of a by-election held to get a replacement for Robert Nachinab Mosore, who abdicated the seat after his ascension to the paramountcy of the Tongo traditional area.
Mr Baba first took the oath of office and then the parliamentary oath, our correspondent said.
TV3’s Evelyn Tengmaa reported that Mr Baba was immediately ushered to his seat by the clerk of the House.
Deputy Minority Chief Whip Ignatius Baffour Awuah on behalf of the Minority congratulated the former chairman of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), urging him to carry out his work in a neutral manner.
He says as an MP, Mr Baba also has a national duty and urged him to work extra hard especially if he would have to seek re-election.
Majority Leader Alban Sumana Bagbin, who was in Talensi to campaign for Mr Baba, said the new MP has distinguished himself in public life from a senior prisons officer to Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service.
Mr Bagbin said Mr Baba has only few months to show his mettle and advised him not to disappoint his people.
He, however, asked for an unqualified condemnation of the violence that characterised the by-election.
The Speaker also welcomed Mr Baba, charging him that the work of Parliament is not only in the chamber but also at the committee level.
Mr Doe Adjaho advised him to be diligent in his work and show readiness to serve all and not only those who voted for him.
There was a large contingent of chiefs and people of Talensi to support the new MP.
There were also officers of the Ghana Prisons Service in the chamber on Tuesday.
