A parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bantama Constituency, Ralph Kwame Opoku Agyapong has promised to provide sustainable livelihoods for delegates if they vote for him to replace the incumbent MP, Francis Asenso- Boakye.

He said the promise would be fulfilled within six months.

“I shall see to it that every delegate secures a job after 6 months of my election” he told Kofi Asante Ennin on GhanAkoma on January 25.

Ralph Kwame Opoku Agyapong also criticised his main contender, who is also the Works and Housing Minister for “falsely” claiming projects started by the late former MP of the Bantama Constituency, Daniel Okyem Aboagye.

On January 23, Nana Kwabena Bonsu Kanin III, the Chief of Ampabamehene, a suburb of Bantama in the Ashanti Region threw his weight behind Francis Asenso-Boakye, Member of Parliament for Bantama for a second term, ahead of the party’s parliamentary primaries on January 27.

The statement was made by the Chief, who is also Otumfuo‘s Suaaduhene, during a ceremony to commission a newly constructed police station by the Bantama MP at Ohwim-Amanfrom on Janaury 23.

The project is the third police station to be commissioned in the Constituency under the leadership of Mr. Asenso-Boakye.

However, Lawyer Opoku Agyapong alleged that, “Every single police station was started by the late Daniel Okyem Aboagye and not Asenso as he has been claiming. He has not done much to uplift the constituency.”

The junior brother of Assin central lawmaker, Kennedy Agyapong also stated that he comes to the competition with integrity.

“When my name came up on Key Points the last time on TV3 during a political discussion, do you remember what Lawyer Kpebu said? He said he knows me to be a man of integrity and that’s what defines me. My name is tagged with integrity unlike my opponent,” he posited.

The contest in the Bantama Constituency continues to grow keener with barely 72 hours to the parliamentary primaries.

In the Bantama constituency an estimated number of about 800 delegates are expected to vote on Saturday at the Kumasi Center for National Culture.

Ashanti region has over 50,000 delegates in 38 constituencies. Five of the constituencies have candidates going unopposed.

They are; Dr John Kumah in Ejisu; Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum in Bosomtwe, Alex Blankson of Akrofuom, Isaac Yaw Opoku in the Offinso South and Dr Ayew Afriyie of Effiduase Asokore.
