Policeman denies killing GSTS student as Court empanels jury to try him

A seven-member jury has been constituted to hear the case of the police constable who shot dead a 17-year-old final year student of the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) December last year. After months of adjournments at the preliminary stage, the stage was set Monday with the formation of the jury to hear the case of Constable Adjei Shaibu who has pleaded not guilty to two counts of causing harm and murder. State Attorney Patience Aseye Klinogo told the Sekondi High Court that the prosecution will from June 11 lead evidence to prove that Shaibu did shoot and killed Lawrence Baidoo and also injured another student of GSTS Kobina Dopkor. Baidoo and four of his colleagues were on their way from Nyankrom to a youth programme at Shama Junction on December 22, 2017 at about 8:00pm when the accused was who was riding a motorbike, allegedly mistook them for thieves and shot at them.
