In all 712 members applied to contest the parliamentary primaries scheduled to be held on Saturday, June 13.
The process, which started on Monday, has been dotted with clashes at some venues, resulting in the suspension of the exercise for some constituencies.
But Director of Elections of the party believes the exercise has been generally successful.
“It will be completely unusual that you will find people in such contest of interest not clashing at some point,” Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah told TV3’s Bridget Otoo on News @ 10 on Wednesday.
“It will mean there is no spirit in the game and the stakes are not high.”
‘Small fraction’
Mr Korsah observed that the disagreements are just “a small fraction” of the exercise, which he describes as “a huge success”.
After the vetting results are released on Friday, room for appeals at both regional and national levels will be created for aggrieved candidates from Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 after which a notice of poll will be published.
Aspirants contesting incumbent Members of Parliament (MPs) paid GH¢10,000 plus GH¢20,000 Development fee while those in constituencies not held by the party paid GH¢10,000 just like sitting MPs, as filing fees.
Women, young aspirants and members with disability enjoyed a 50 per cent rebate.
