The convenor of the aggrieved customers of Gold Coast Fund Management, Mr Charles Nyame has said that the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam has made it clear that government will not pay any money to them.

Mr. Nyame said this at the beginning of a 32-hour picketing at the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.

Mr Charles Nyame

During the protest, a delegation from the Ministry of Finance, led by Dr. Amin Adam invited the leaders of group for a meeting.

Mr. Nyame told journalists after the 3-hour meeting that Dr Adam told them, “the government can’t pay the Gold Coast Fund customers unless the customers go and chase the founder of Gold Coast Fund Management, Dr. Papa Kwasi Nduom to withdraw the suit from court before they can pay us.”

And we feel that the government is trying to hold us to ransom, because we have not asked Dr. Papa Kwasi Nduom to go to court to challenge the revocation of the license and we have not asked the Registrar General’s Department to file any case of liquidation. We the customers, we are not part of all those things.”

Mr Nyame wondered why Dr Adam will say this to them, “Tax payers money has been raised and approved by the Parliament that pay this dying customers and you said we the customers, that is was what Hon. Mohammed Amin Adam said, that we the customers, we should join hands with the Finance Ministry to chase Papa Kwasi Nduom and his Gold Coast Fund Management to go out from court, they should stop challenging the liquidation petition before they pay us.“

The convener further wondered, “are they doing this to us because they are losing the case?”

He therefore, called on the Christian Council, Chief Imam and all civil society organisations to help them fight for their “sweat monies.“
