President John Dramani Mahama has again underscored his administration’s resolve to fight corruption in the country, with a call on all to marshal available technologies to expose acts of corruption.

“Every Ghanaian can now help our institutions in their fight against corruption. With the current availability of social media applications and modern video and camera devices embedded in even ordinary mobile phones, everyone can be an Anas,” he posted Monday afternoon.

Ghana has in the last few years grabbed headlines for various acts of corruption with some involving high profile government officials and civil servants.

The recent case to hit the country is the judicial scandal in which more than 180 judicial staff, including 34 judges, were caught on camera allegedly taking bribes in various forms from litigants in a bid to transgress justice delivery.

Many people and institutions have criticized various governments for not doing much in the fight against corruption, which according to businessman-cum-politician, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, cost Ghana one billion dollars annually.

In the last three years, Ghana has lost a total amounts of GH¢1.8 billion in three scandals- GH¢200 million in SADA scandal, GH¢952 million through GYEEDA and GH¢657 million in questionable judgement debts.

But President Mahama insists his administration is committed to fighting corruption. “As President, I wish to assure you about my commitment to the fight against corruption,” he said.

” I’ll continue to work to strengthen our institutions; especially the anti-corruption institutions will be assisted to carry out their work without fear or favour. You can also be a part of this fight. Let’s keep transforming Ghana!,” he concluded in the Facebook post.
