Ken Agyapong petitions Gen. Legal Council to investigate Anas for ‘moral turpitude’

Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong has petitioned the General Legal Council to investigate investigative journalist-cum-lawyer, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, for “professional misconduct and moral turpitude”. He wants disciplinary action taken against Anas if found culpable. Mr. Agyapong who has described Anas as a “corrupt and evil” person, has since early June been on a campaign to prove the allegation against the journalist whose latest investigative works exposed corruption in Ghana’s football. READ: Anas sues Kennedy Agyapong for GH¢25m damages He on June 27 televised a documentary, Who Watches the Watchman in which he claimed to have seen and heard Anas colluding with a retired Chief State Attorney to derive monetary gains from suspects to “taint evidence” against the said suspects. “Anas Aremeyaw Anas revealed to the Chief State Attorney that the suspects had bought him with One hundred thousand dollars, paid seventy-five thousand dollars to Mr. Frank Adu Poku, the then CID Director-General and also paid five thousand dollars into the account of the Chief State attorney in order to taint the evidence and make the case foolish,” Mr. Agyapong claimed in the petition to the Council on Thursday. These claims, he said in his opinion, constitute “professional misconduct” which “should not be countenance at the Bar”. Mr. Agyapong thus praying the Council “to conduct thorough investigations into the behaviour of Anas Aremeyaw Anas”.
