Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho has revealed that he was one of the fans of radio presenter-cum-reggae artiste Blakk Rasta, known in private life as Abubakar Ahmed.

Mr Doe Adjaho, however, stated that his admiration for the Barack Obama hitmaker fizzled out after he insinuated that about 80 per cent of Members (MPs) as well as the president smoked marijuana.

The former Hitz FM presenter was hauled before the Privileges Committee of Parliament, as a result.

He had rendered an apology during hearing by the Committee but its report presented to the House on Friday, July 24 said the apology was not rendered in good faith while Mulitmedia group, his former employers, were cited for not being proactive on the matter.

Ambassador of Parliament

After his apology to the bar of Parliament, as recommended in the report, Blakk Rasta was reprimanded by the Speaker.

“I hope that after this you will be an ambassador of the House rather than making statements that undermine the dignity of this House,” Mr Doe Adjaho said.

He said the legislative will continue to keep an eye on the maverick musician.

“We have accepted your apology but we shall be watching you.”

He noted that “until you made that statement, I was one of your fans but after you made that statement I was no longer your fan”.

Blakk Rasta ordered out of the chamber after the Speaker’s remarks.
