Two Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs) in the Eastern Region have handed over the administration of their assemblies to the regional minister, Antwi-Bosiako Sekyere, in Koforidua, the capital.

They are George Akpalu of West Akyem and Mark Amoako Dompreh of Nsawam-Adoagyiri municipalities.

The handing over became necessary because their four-year tenure of office has expired.

The Minister congratulated them for their distinguished services to the assemblies and the nation at large.

He said, ending their term of office does not mean their work has come to an end.

They are a resource which would be tapped into, by the government and the party, Mr Sekyere said.

The minister assured the former Chief Executives that they would be called upon from time to time to make their invaluable experiences and expertise available for use as far as driving the course of the Better Ghana Agenda is concerned.

He advised them to remain calm and wait for President’s next decision on them since he is the only person with the prerogative to hire and fire.
