The Black Stars firmed up their preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-0 win over Uzbekistan side Bunyodkor in a friendly played on Tuesday. The match at the Sevens Stadium in Dubai saw head coach Avram Grant wring the changes, giving almost each member of his squad a bite of the cherry. But it was his substitutions that paid off Captain Asamoah Gyan scored in the 67th minute with his first touch after replacing Jordan Ayew. The substitute for Ayew’s brother, Andre Dede Ayew, who had captained the side in the first half, Frank Acheampong, tapped home the second goal in the 75th after Schalke 04’s Bernard Tekpetey had done all the work. The side is expected to engage in another warm-up game before enplaning for Gabon. The Stars will kick-start their campaign on Tuesday, January 17, three days after the tourney starts.
