GPL: Kotoko beat Medeama after Hearts of Oak lose at Karela

Asante Kotoko beat Medeama 1-0 in Kumasi on Sunday to extend their lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League to six points.

Kotoko unveiled midfielder Justice Blay, who has joined them from Medeama, before kick-off.

The only goal was scored in the 79th minute by attacker Mfegue Omgba who beat Boris Mandjui with a great strike from inside the box.

Before that, the Ivorian had made several splendid saves to keep Medeama in the game. He denied Kotoko a second by saving Omgba’s penalty in the 85th minute.

Hearts of Oak are 10 points off Kotoko because they lost 1-0 to Karela United in Ayinase on Saturday. The defending champions conceded in the 93rd minute.

Great Olympics condemned King Faisal to their third straight defeat. The Dade Boys were the better side in the tight contest and deservedly claimed maximum points.

Bibiani Gold Stars and Eleven Wonders won at home at the expense of Legon Cities and Real Tamale United respectively.

AshantiGold secured the only away win of the weekend as they beat Accra Lions by a lone goal. Elmina Sharks and Berekum Chelsea produced no goal, same as Bechem United versus WAFA.
