First Austrian league title excites Majeed Ashmiru
Ghanaian international Majeed Ashimeru has won his first Austrian league title with FC Salzburg.
The 22-year-old told TV3 he is elated to win the league with the team and hopes to do more.
“It is my first league title in Europe and for me it feels really good and I know there is more to come but the first title is always a proud moment and I will never forget this day, it’s a good time for my teammates and I.”
The midfielder says winning Die Mozartstadter’s 14th league title was special because of everything around Covid-19, and how it impacted on his game.
“It’s a proud moment for me but it is not easy because we went indoors for some months because of this virus and we came back to win the title.”
Ashimeru scored twice and provided two assists all season.
Securing the title on Sunday means Salzburg has completed the domestic double as they beat Lustenau in May to win the Austrian Cup.
