A Deputy Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ernest Owusu-Bempah has accused former President John Dramani Mahama of being behind the Occupy Jubilee House demonstration.

In the view of Mr Owusu-Bempah, Mr Mahama, who is also flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is using the demonstration dubbed ” #OccupyJulorbiHouse” to advance his political interest ahead of the 2024 general elections by making the current NPP administration unpopular.

Speaking to some journalists in Accra on Friday, September 22, he indicated that “no scheming can exonerate Former President John Dramani Mahama as the most corrupt leader ever in Ghana.”

“Has he answered the issues around the Airbus bribery scandal?” Bempah quizzed.

He further called on the youth of the NPP to rise and speak up against the conduct of Mr Mahama.

“The youth of the NPP will not sit down and watch this,” he said.

Protesters on Saturday, September 23 converged to continue their charge to the Jubilee House as planned.

Wielding placards like on Day 2, the protesters marched towards the seat of government until they were stopped by a police barricade at the 37 Military Hospital.

The protesters decided to make their way to the Jubilee House via an alternative route.

“There are are ways of getting to the Julorbi House,” convenor Oliver Barker-Vormawor told Media General‘s Eric Mawuena Egbeta as the procession appeared retreating.

But they grew wild as the police attempted to barricade and box them in front of the 37 Military Hospital.

In a charged atmosphere, the protesters scaled over the barricade to continue their move only to make a U-turn to the Jubilee House.
