The Accra High Court has found the third accused in the case regarding defunct Capital Bank not guilty.

Reverend Fitzgerald Odonkor was therefore acquitted of his charges including abetment on Tuesday, December 13.

He was cited in the case filed by the state after 26 charges were levelled against former Managing Director of the defunct Capital Bank William Ato Essien and two others – Tetteh Nettey and Kate Quartey-Papafio.

But presiding judge Eric Kyei Baffour found Rev Odonkor not guilty of his charges and, therefore, acquitted him.

However, Mr Ato Essien, who pleaded guilty to his charges, cited a former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo, on debt recoveries rather than prosecutions.

His repayment proposition was, therefore, agreed to by the presiding judge.

Per the terms of the agreement, he is to pay back GH¢90 million in total: an initial GH¢30 million and GH¢60 million in 3 installment to the state.
