Elections will be peaceful – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has promised to work with the National Peace Council and other agencies to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections to fulfill the wishes of Ghanaians.

Speaking at the 25th anniversary of the Word Miracle Church in Accra, President Mahama said: ‘’As the person on whom the mantle has fallen to take us through the elections I wish to assure and make a pledge here that we will have peaceful and successful elections.”

He added that “we will work with the Security Agencies, National Peace Council, National Commission for Civic Education, Electoral Commission and do everything to ensure that nothing disrupts the upcoming elections.’’

According to him, after running five successful elections, there is no reason why his government cannot repeat the success.

President Mahama advised Ghanaians to be optimistic about the future of the country as optimism will strengthen and move Ghana ahead.

‘’It happens in every nation, you have the optimist and pessimist. For the optimist in Ghana we see a nation on whom God’s favour is and blessing us every day. We see a nation which has become and will continue to be a model in Africa. We see a nation that will continue to have successful elections that will continue to have successful elections. And the pessimist see a nation which is a heal hole in Africa; nothing is working, the roads are bad, there are no hospitals, there are no schools,’’ he explained.
