Be resolute – Mahama tells Black Stars ahead of Nigeria clash in Abuja

Former Ghana President John Mahama has urged the Black Stars to defeat Nigeria on Tuesday evening and qualify for the 2022 World Cup finals.

The first leg in Kumasi ended 0-0, thus the Black Stars need to win or record a score draw in Abuja to qualify for Qatar.

“Ghana vrs Nigeria… the friendship is strong, and the history is rich,” Mahama said in a Facebook post.

“I urge the Black Stars to be resolute today to qualify Ghana for the FIFA 2022 World Cup tournament in Qatar.

“Go Black Stars Go!”

Another goalless draw would see the tie go to extra time and if there are still no goals after 120 minutes, a penalty shoot-out will decide which of the rivals goes to Qatar.

Ghana – three-time qualifiers – are looking to return to the tournament after failing to reach the 2018 finals in Russia while Nigeria are bidding to reach a fourth consecutive World Cup, and seventh in total.
