Voter registration enters final phase

The new voter registration is in its final phase, starting Saturday, August 1.

The exercise began on Tuesday, June 30 and has so far registered 11,629,480.

“The Commission notes with satisfaction the high patronage of the Exercise so far,” the Commission said in a statement on Saturday, August 1.

“The Commission appeals to all prospective applicants to respond to the final call and register at registration centres near them.”

It assures that all the safety protocols will continue to be observed at all registration centres across the country.

“The Commission, however, cautions members of political parties to desist from bussing non-residents to specific registration centers.”

So far, a majority of Ghanaians has used the Ghana Card to register. This constitutes 60.32 per cent of the total number of registered applicants.

About 37.73 per cent have fallen on guarantors while 227,173, translating into 1.95 per cent used passports.

“Guarantors are reminded that it is an offense to charge fees in exchange for vouching for applicants.”
