Some veteran musicians has given new highlife sensation Nana Yaw Kumi – popularly known as Kumi Guitar – the opportunity to feature legend highlife musicians like Chief Kofi Sammy, Baffour Kyei and Teacher Kofi Boateng in his subsequent highlife works.
Kumi Guitar is well known for his single hit Break Into Two which featured Guru. It got him nominated for New Artiste of the Year in the 2017 Vodafon Ghana Music Awards.
Under Slip Music Records, Kumi Guitar has kept his unique brand as always seen with his acoustic guitar.
He was on Onua 95.1 FM’s entertainment talk show Anigye Mmre and had the opportunity to meet Chief Kofi Sammy, Baffour Kyei and Teacher Kofi Boateng.
After he was asked by the host Christian Agyei Frimpong to play something on his semi acoustic guitar, the veteran musicians were astonished with the way he instantly composed a song with their names and his wish to learn from them.
Oheneba hit maker Teacher Boateng took Kumi’s acoustic guitar and also composed a song instantly and assured Kumi Guitar of their intention to help him if he is ready to learn from them.
Chief Kofi Sammy and Baffour Kyei also added their voice and pledged to offer the needed support for Kumi Guitar to sustain his highlife music career.
They also blessed his career.
Kumi Guitar’s genre of music is a melodious mixture of highlife, contemporary highlife & Afro-fusion.
His humble beginnings started as part of a melodious group at Adisadel College at a tender age.
His burst onto the professional scene was triggered by a musical collaboration with another musician on Sugar Tone’s compilation, after which he became a toast of fun-loving Ghanaians with his impeccable free style lyrics.
