A collaborative effort of both the Savannah and North East Regional Police Commands has led to the arrest of two persons suspected to have murdered two persons in Lukula last Saturday, August 17.
The two arrested, Abdul Rauf and Amidu Fuseini, were picked up in the early hours of Sunday at Sandema in the Upper East Region, where they were hiding.
In a statement signed by the Northern Region Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Yussif Tanko, the suspects are expected to be taken to Damongo on Monday to help in investigations.
“Meanwhile, Lukula and its environs are quite following the deployment of police and military personnel to the community and its surrounding areas,” the statement said.
It will be recalled that on Friday, August 16, conflict broke out in Lukula over the building of a mosque.
The situation led to the death of Alidu Yakuba and Amadu Yakubu.
Four others sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds and were rushed to health facilities around Lukula.
